As a fellow new parent who used to hit 100+ and this year only managed 17, this is incredibly impressive! Also a huge fan of Cradle and the Goblin Emperor/The Witness for the Dead, so going to have to check out some of your others. Likewise did not manage one single serious book this year that wasn’t somehow parenting related, and pinning my hopes on a future decade 😂 (Or maybe audiobooks, which other parents seem to swear by.)

I never liked the idea of audiobooks, because it felt like cheating? but thanks to headphones + stroller miles, I am such a darn convert. (Though, Audible is a racket and takes too much author money.) What was the best thing you've read lately? Would also love recs from a fellow Cradle-enjoyer!

+1 on audible, I need to get on the library / Libby train! Honestly nothing I read last year truly blew my socks off, the last SF/F series I got into that were truly great were the Gentleman Bastards books by Scott Lynch (rec’d by the same person who told me to read Cradle!) and the Imperial Radch books by Ann Leckie. It’s older and takes some time for the payoff, but also absolutely adore the Steerswoman series (I will caveat that it’s unfinished, but I think you get enough payoff that it’s still worth it.)
